DEALING WITH THE WEIGHT OF THIS WORLD

Image
How to lay your burdens down at the foot of the cross. Written by GodLife on 18/08/2020 Series: Weekly Devotional Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11:28-30           Hello! We haven’t met yet, but I think we have something in common. You and I both have the tendency to carry the weight of the world on our shoulders. But here’s a secret: we don’t have to! God has already overcome the world and all its heavy chains. (John 16:33)          I bet we have another thing in common — we both have a hard time laying down our burdens. About three years ago, I was determined to carry my burdens — medical issues, problems with friends, struggles in school — on my own, and that sent me down a spiral of anxiety and depression. I don’t want you to make the same mistakes I did.          You see

HOW TO TALK TO YOUR TEEN

Image
Bringing up any difficult subjects with your teen can feel uncomfortable. And your teen isn't likely to respond well to a lengthy lecture or too many direct questions. But having a conversation with your teen about difficult issues is not something you should shy away from.           Even when it seems like they are not listening, you are the most influential person in your teen's life. It is important to lay a strong foundation before the window of opportunity closes.           A good way to strike up a conversation about drugs, sex, or other uncomfortable situations is to ask a question like, "Do you think this is a big issue at your school?" Listen to what your teen has to say. Try not to be judgmental, but make your expectations and opinions clear. It is important that your teen understands that you don't condone certain behaviors and that they know the consequences of breaking your rules.

LIFE OF A TEENAGE GIRL

Image
Look how she's changed, Look how she's grown, The personality changes I should have known The make up she wears, Each day it gets thicker Why is she doing this? To grow up quicker? The days she comes in She runs to her room Is it really possible, Too feel so much gloom? The tears in her eyes, Her heart as it breaks She will learn to realize Her minor mistakes I cuddle her in I miss times like this The young girl that smiled My gorgeous 'Little miss' Now her dancing, and prancing The games we did play Her sorrow, it drifts memories So many miles away I call her down As I do each time To ask her to share with me The troubles of her prime The response was different To the one I used to know She stared up at me She was beginning to let go The stories she told The rumours she'd heard No wonder my princess Had not said a word The thing she said next Opened my eyes To a world I'd never known A world of hurt and hated and lies 'Mum' she said As the tales unfur

SEX EDUCATION

Image
(For parents and teenagers)            S exuality education is defined as teaching about human sexuality, including intimate relationships, human sexual anatomy, sexual reproduction, sexually transmitted infections, sexual activity, sexual orientation, gender identity, abstinence, contraception, and reproductive rights and responsibilities.           Sex education is designed to help young people gain the information, skills and motivation to make healthy decisions about sex and sexuality throughout their lives.          Sexuality education has been shown to help prevent and reduce the risks of adolescent pregnancy, HIV, and sexually transmitted infections for children and adolescents.           Developing a healthy sexuality is a key developmental milestone for all children and adolescents that depends on acquiring information and forming attitudes, beliefs, and values about consent, sexual orientation, gender identity, relationships, and intimacy.           All children and adolesc

SINFULNESS OF SIN

Image
Sin leads to sin.  •Sin turned the best of creatures into demons, and makes reprobate men to be called devils.  •It was because of sin that God conceived the thought of hell and of sending men there.  •Sin made God to forsake God. The God-head in Christ was abandoned by the Father when He on the cross took the sins of the world.  •Nothing else can kill God in man's life, but sin did.  •Sin made God to drown the generation of Noah (the whole world) into deluge or flood, sparing only eight persons (Noah and his household).  •Sin is not just sin, it exceeds sinfulness.  •One man's sin can destroy a whole community, nation, people and even the visible church of Christ.  •This accursed thing, turns guarding angels into slaying angels.  •Sin drove our first parents ( Adam and Eve) from the garden of Eden into wilderness of waste, misery and pain.  •Sin leads to more  sins. It does not lead to repentance, rather it hardens the heart of men.  •The wages of sin is not repentance, it

DO YOURSELF NO HARM

Image
T he devil is a master strategist, and he hates to lose any battle. When he fails to use external means to catch his targeted prey (man), he resorts to using the person as a self-destruction agent against himself.            There is an abundance of this method of operation both in the bible and in contemporary human history. Sadly, many great and precious destinies have been victimized and perpetually silenced. It should rather alert you to note that he (devil) hasn't resigned or retired from using this age-long tactics.              Unfortunately, civilization and modernization have further armed the kingdom of darkness with this " do it yourself" suicide mission, through the Hollywood , Bollywood, Zee world, Nollywood, Big brother Naija, pornographic exposures, and other baseless Internet compliances.  But " do yourself no harm ", for we are all here for you.  Acts 16 vs 38,"But Paul cried with a loud voice, saying, Do thyself no harm: for we

TEMPTATIONS

Image
Godlife.com 2 Peter 2:9 The Lord knows how to deliver the godly out of temptations.             A tenacious and destructive force is at work in the life of every believer. Temptation is the continuing effect and downward pull of our former life, with all its bad habits.              Its goal is to hinder our close walk with the Lord. Temptation in itself is not fatal. But yielding to it can have deep and lasting consequences. Our best counter-strategy  is early detection and bold corrective action.             Christians teens are not immune to evil thoughts and behaviors. In fact, because believers are of such value to the Lord, we can become even greater targets than non-believers. Our adversary is cunning and finds all kinds of ways to tempt us. The Apostle John urged that we carefully guard ourselves in three areas: “...the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes and the pride of life” (see 1 John 2:16).             Lust of the flesh might involve self indulgence, obsessive focus o

BATTLE FOR THE YOUNG

Image
By Bro Gbile Akanni                                               Summary                 It is a great privilege to be young. Being young comes only once in the life time.  What should I know about this stage in my life?  1) The time of youth is a period of making choices; choices that will mark your life out for greatness or choices that will mark your life out for destruction or failure.  2) Whether those choices were made consciously or unconsciously, they are often irreversible. This time is also a time for laying the foundation for every aspect of your life.  3) it is also a time for warfare. You either choose God or Satan.               Not many things excite people who are already old, especially if it is coming from a young man.                Dreams are from the past. Visions are from the future. Old men are dreamers of what they could have done better, young men are men of the future, they see what is possible ahead of them in life.                               This time of

RELATIONSHIP

Image
Relationship is a crucial thing in a person's life, but most relationships are not handled well, some don't value their relationship with people.             When we come to a teenager's life, they are so eager to get into one relationship, but have little or no idea how relationship works, and they make a lot of mistakes that affect their life.             The adolescence stage is a stage of laying of foundation in a person's life, we all know that the foundation of a house is more important than the building itself, same thing is applied in our lives. This stage is more important in our lives.             I will be sharing some relationship tips, which can be very useful, not just to teenagers but to youths and adults also.                                      RELATIONSHIP TIPS. 1) When you give yourself to someone who doesn't respect you, you surrender pieces of your soul that you'll never get back. If someone wants you in their life, they

MADE FOR THE MASTER'S USE (PURIFIED LIKE A GOLD)

Image
Who is this master?             We have two masters as a human being, which are: 1) Spiritual master.  2) Earthly master.              Now, what we are dealing with is our spiritual master, but when we come to this aspect, it is also divided into two, which are: 1) Our heavenly Father  2) Devil.             We can yield ourselves completely to this two, not at the same time.  Romans 6 vs 16, "Don’t you know that when you offer yourselves to someone as obedient slaves, you are slaves of the one you obey, whether you are slaves to sin, which leads to death, or to obedience, which leads to righteousness?"             But our main focus is on our Heavenly Father, who is God our creator. We can only understand that God is our master, if only we are born again  2Timothy 2 vs 19 - 21, "Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm, sealed with this inscription: “The Lord knows those who are his,” and, “Everyone who confesses the name o

HE IS NEVER LATE

Image
Are you worried?  Are you sad?  Are you depressed?  Are you tired of situations you're going through?  Do you feel that God has stopped answering prayers?  Or are you beginning to question his existence and think he's partial?  God is never late.  He can never give up on you.  He's too faithful to fail.  The persecution you're  going through on earth is part  of what qualifies you as a christian.  Jesus Christ himself suffered persecution and betrayal too!  But he wasn't perturbed because He knew what was in store for Him.  And He also told us that if they persecuted Him, they will also persecute us.  The persecutions are not there to kill us but to make us stronger, because God made us to understand that, " When we pass through the waters, he shall be with us and when we pass through the fire, we shall not be burnt, neither will the flame scorch us ( Isaiah 43 vs 2)." God is working out something great for you, even in that trying time and nobody can stop

PRINCIPLES BEHIND RECEIVING

Image
Everything in life is governed by principles and conditions, nothing just happens like that, there are certain rules that guide everything we want to get in life.  •If you want to pass an examination, you study your books.  •If you want to be rich, you work hard.  •If you want to grow spiritually, you pray hard.                There is nothing that happens accidentally, some conditions were observed either consciously or unconsciously.                 Now, how can I attract good things to myself?  I will be using 2 bible passages: 1) Psalms 34 vs 10, "The lions may grow weak and hungry, but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing." 2) Psalms 84 vs 11, " For the Lord God is a sun and shield; the Lord bestows favor and honor; no good thing does he withhold from those whose walk is blameless."             We all need good things in life, nobody expects a bad thing in his life, even to the worst human being on earth. But we forget the condition that c

THE POWER OF THE TONGUE

Image
Imagine a weapon so powerful that it makes the atomic bomb look like a toy!                 This weapon has the potential to literally bring anguish into the life of every human being on the planet, but without necessarily destroying them physically.                 This weapon could however produce scars that last a lifetime, scars that may never heal properly.                 This weapon is available to the poorest as well as the richest of nations. In fact, every individual has access to this weapon. There are few laws against the possession or use of this weapon. No weapon that now exists, or will exist, will have the deadly potential of this ancient weapon, it is as old as man himself.  The weapon is THE TONGUE!                   The tongue is not mainly an organ for taste, but in this organ lies the power to give life and the power to kill.  James 3 vs 5 - 6:   "Likewise, the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts. Consider what a great

A CALL TO ARISE

Image
ABBA FATHER!! I CAN'T FAIL MY GENERATION.  Evangelist Billy Graham left us in the year 2018 to be with the Lord. A man who preached John 3 :16 all his life and diverted 46 million souls who were on the course to Hell. His mantle is still flying, looking for the person it can fit in. What reason will I give my generation for not  securing mantles for them? What reason will I give my generation for not looking for God while others were looking for God?  Will I tell my generation that while others WERE PAYING THE SACRIFICE FOR ALIGNMENT, PURPOSE, GOALS, VISIONS , I was busy snoring at night?  Will I tell my children that while others were busy controlling their appetite, and killing their flesh for the future, I was busy eating like a GLUTTON?  Will I tell my children that while men like me paid the price to hear and talk to God, I was busy playing WORLDLY MUSIC?   Will I tell my generation that while few men were reading the Bible and Christian books, and getting mor

TEENAGE RELATIONSHIP WITH MONEY

Image
Everybody loves money, because money can solve a lot of problems in a person's  life. A research was done, and it was discovered that as children grow into adolescence, they  develop this great affinity for money without knowing how it comes or how it is managed.            Parents play an important role in shaping their teen's  financial behaviour and attitude towards money. Many teenagers rely on their mum or dad to set the right example when it comes to managing finances. Of course it’s not always easy to talk to teenagers about money, particularly as they approach adulthood.           The early teen years can be a tricky time for kids. Not only are they encountering new social situations and gaining more responsibility, they are also forming a big part of their relationship with money.                               COMMON MONEY MISTAKES.  1)No Planning for the Future.            Teens live in the moment. They tend to spend whatever they have in their pocket and ju
