TEENAGE RELATIONSHIP WITH GOD

A relationship with God is not totally different from other forms of relationship. We all know that God is our father, and the creator of the heaven and earth.
Now being in a relationship with God is more like a father and  son relationship, having that mutual, cordial, and lovely relationship.
God as the creator, yearns for a relationship with us, that was why he sent his son Jesus Christ to die for our sins, that he might reconcile us back to himself.
There are some questions you might be asking yourself as a teenager:
1) Must I have a relationship with God?
2) What does it mean to be in a relationship with God?

Must I have a relationship with God?
I will give you an answer "no", you must not, but it is a thing of choice. Living a fruitful teenage life and enjoying your  future after your teenage life, you must have this relationship with God.
"Ecclesiastes 12:1 Remember  and enjoy your Creator while you're still young, Before the years take their toll and your vigor wanes," you must surrender your life to God to have good success. The choice is yours.

What does it mean to be in a relationship with God ?
Knowing that it is a thing of choice, and have made up your mind to have a relationship with God, the next thing is to know how?

1) Believing and Accepting Jesus Christ:

"Romans 10:9 "the welcoming word to God - "Jesus is my Master" - embracing, body and soul, God's work of doing in us what he did in raising Jesus from the dead. That's it. You're not "doing" anything; you're simply calling out to God, trusting him to do it for you. That's salvation."
Romans 10:10 "With your whole being you embrace God setting things right, and then you say it, right out loud: "God has set everything right between him and me!"
This is the first criteria in having a relationship with God. The passage above has told us all we need to do to be saved. Now being saved by Jesus Christ is reconciling us back to our relationship with God.

2) Obedience to God's word:

Maintaining a good relationship with God; you must obey his words. Doing what he tells you to do.

3)Prayer:

This one is very important. Think about a relationship that lacks communication. That is how our relationship with God looks like without prayers. Prayer is a medium for communicating with God, not just where we pour our requests.
"1 Thessalonians 5:17 pray all the time;"
Make prayer a lifestyle.

4) Studying the Bible:

How will you know God's word without studying the bible?
Knowing God more entails studying your bible. The bible should be your life manual, your life should be controlled by God's word. The bible is a gift given to you by God to help you live righteously.

With this, your relationship with God will grow stronger and for those that don't have a relationship with God, I pray the Holy Spirit will help you.

Remember God's love,  "John 3:16 "This is how much God loved the world: He gave his Son, his one and only Son. And this is why: so that no one need be destroyed; by believing in him, anyone can have a whole and lasting life."

Hope this was helpful?

  2. Very helpful. But I think prayers should be included too, as a means of communication with Him.
