THE SILENT CRIES OF THE TEEN III

A teen needs love not rejection, praises not curses, motivations and encouragements. They need those inspiring voices to continue ringing in their ears. For these words, when expressed even in actions, speaks volumes to their souls. This stage, the teen doesn't think he can rise, all he thinks about is the opportunity wasted and failed projects; trusts broken and hopes shattered. This is the sad music the walls of their heart absorb the feeling of unworthiness.
An average teenager, full of dreams and life might see the wavering storms and plan on ways to conquer. He  might work on these tactics and might be progressing, however, the views from different people(their disapproving comments) restrains the teen from moving forward. This demotivation can come from people very close the teen like parents, siblings or friends.

In an average Nigerian home setting, parents are the teen superior and it is expected that the child show respect to his parents by obeying them. But, not all of their decisions are right. The parents may not be able to understand the views of their teen, they may have their religions, principles, interests to disapprove, thereby causing a limit in the teens pursue. They cause pressure on the teen because they feel the teen is Subject to them. Some treat their teen as slaves, they think by catering for them, they are doing a favour. When they use words like "as long as I shelter you", "as long as you eat from my pot, you will not do this and that", they cause sorrow and hate for the teen. They misinterpret discipline for slavery.

Try understanding strong reasons towards the step a teen is taking, try taking necessary measures with love and understanding, give them all the time they need with you. Some parents' actions towards their children makes them detest them a lot, teens should be able to pour out their heart to their parents, this is a soothing balm to heal their depressed souls.
The teen should be able to voice out their reasons/purposes without getting rebuked, this is understanding. They should be able to live like free born  not like slaves held down, limited by certain foolish rules that stops their future shining. Love , honour, then respect instead of treating them like irrelevant children because of their sometimes silly attitudes

If only these tears would be seen, if these cries would be heard by those who comfort. If these eyes would find rest and souls fill with light, by necessary measures fully executed, maybe the teen can then make musical noises of laughter

 Hope this was helpful?

Raising  a happy teen
